It’s certainly funny how one day you can’t imagine cooking and the next day you are collecting recipes like the world is going to end tomorrow. Yesterday, I had absolutely no desire to find a recipe to attempt this week, but as soon as I pinned this Turkey Burger recipe, I knew I had broken the curse! Not only is this a delicious and fresh take on a burger, but healthy too- my entire dinner only came in at 346 calories!
1.25 lbs extra lean ground turkey breast
1 medium red onion, diced
1/2 cup parsley, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tsp paula deen silly salt
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper
optional: cheese, to top
Using a food processor, I chopped the parsley, diced the onion and minced the garlic individually.
In a medium bowl combine the ground turkey breast, onion, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix until combined, then form 8 patties. Grill on medium heat for about 6 1/2 minutes each side, then flip. If using cheese, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty with two minutes to go until fully cooked. Serve hot and with desired toppings.
I used cheddar cheese and topped the burger with a leaf of romaine lettuce and sliced grape tomatoes. The burger itself was tasty enough that I didn’t add any extra condiments, but I can imagine a little dijon mustard and ketchup would taste incredible. Next time I may also try a slice of muenster on top for a different taste combination.
Caloric info: 8 servings, each turkey patty: 81 calories, I used a Sara Lee bun for 120, and 1/2 ounces cheddar cheese for a total of 256 calories per burger!
