Burgers might be one of my absolute favorite foods– if I could eat them every day, I would be a happy camper. But since burgers aren’t always the most nutritious of meals, I try to opt for some variety and some healthier options, like the next recipe. The best thing about turkey burgers is that they go with everything- lose the bun and enjoy the patty as a compliment to any salad or enjoy the whole shebang on a toasted bun topped with cheddar cheese, a fried egg. My mouth is watering as I contemplate all of the possibilities.
1 lb lean ground turkey
1 cup Old Fashioned Oats
2 large egg whites
2 cups fresh chopped spinach
1/2 cup crumbles feta
Pepper, to taste
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl using your hands. Don’t overwork, just mix it until all the ingredients just combine.
Form into 8 patties. Grill until cooked thoroughly- about 9 minutes.
