DIY Tassel Garland

DIY Tassel Garland

I’ve probably seen a million and one homemade tassel garlands hung from bar carts on Pinterest over the past year. Yet, I am not sick of the idea. I’d been toying with the idea of ordering premade tassels, but when I found this tutorial from HGTV, I knew I could do it myself. While the process was a bit time consuming, I only spent $3 on supplies, compared to paying $16 plus $10 in shipping to purchase a similar set. I’ll mark this DIY as a win in my book!

20×24 or 20×20 sheets of tissue paper in various colors
Ribbon or twine to hang

Fold the tissue paper in half and then in half the other way {basically in quarters}. Place paper on a flat surface and use coffee table books to hold down the folded edge of the paper and begin cutting fringe, leaving 1-2 inches at the folded end.

Unfold and cut in half- each sheet of tissue paper will yield two tassels. Carefully unfold the individual tassel and begin rolling the paper up the middle section. Fold over to make a loop. Repeat to make desired number of tassels. Hang tassels from a ribbon or piece of twine, twisting tassels around to secure the loop.
